Intercom installation questions
Can these intercoms unlock a door or gate?
Yes, most IP intercoms can be connected to an electric door strike, magnetic lock or gate controller. The final parts and labour depend on the door hardware, gate controller and cable path.
Do I need internet for the indoor monitor to work?
The indoor monitor and door station can usually communicate on the local network. Internet is generally needed for remote phone app viewing, mobile notifications and off-site answering.
What if I already have old intercom wiring?
The Akuvox 2-wire kit is designed for retrofit jobs where old cabling is already in the wall and replacing it would be difficult. We still need to check the wiring condition before confirming installation.
Can you install an extra indoor monitor?
Yes, many systems support extra indoor monitors. The cost depends on the brand, monitor model and the cabling required.
